Head Coach Ron Rivera insisted he does not know the new Washington team name to be revealed Feb. 2, on the NBC Today Show.
Coach Rivera revealed that this morning in his candid manner during his weekly appearance on the “Sports Junkies” on 106.7 The Fan.
Rivera, when being asked if he had seen the new uniforms and if liked them, he succinctly replied, “No, and No.” “That is something Mr. Snyder has been working on with Jason (Wright). ”
Rivera did volunteer, “I know what the candidates were for the name but that’s about it… I hope I get to see the video today”.
When Eric Bickel interjected “You have to know”, Rivera did not blink, quickly responding, “Not yet. I know this, they have included me on several things…”
Rivera did provide the uniforms are going to be the traditional colors (burgundy and gold). The color scheme they showed me, I am excited about it, I really am.”
John “Cakes” Auville confidently expressed to Rivera, “I am glad to hear you are minimally involved,” which brought laughter from some.
Bickel inquired, “Did you like Redwolves?”
Bickel jokingly pressed Rivera, “Was it your favorite on the list?”
Cakes jumped in, “And how many names are on the list that you saw?”
Bickel persisted, trying again, “Coach it seems like the leader in the clubhouse is Commanders.”
Rivera hesitated and responded, “Really? Ok, Ok, Wow, Ok.”

Afterward, Eric Bickel, remained firm, “I’m not calling him a liar, but I refuse to believe Ron doesn’t know the final name.”
Two minutes prior to Rivera appearing on the program, John-Paul Flaim poked fun at how just days ago there were fans on Twitter claiming a source, providing a video that the new name was most certainly going to be “Redwolves.”
