Simone Biles’ boyfriend, Jonathan Owens, was cut by the Houston Texans on Tuesday afternoon. The fourth-year safety was one of the team’s final cuts before this afternoon’s 53-man roster deadline.
Biles, who purchased a 4,000 square-foot home in Houston back in July 2020, began dating Owens about a year ago. The two have been spotted all over the city, including at several of the 25-year-old safety’s offseason practices with the Texans before this year’s Tokyo Olympics.
While Owens has been cut from the 53-man roster, his time in Houston may not be up just yet. Considering his position on the Texans’ practice squad roster over the past two seasons, he very well could find his way back onto that squad in 2021.
Splitting time with the practice squad and active roster in 2020, Owens saw time in six games. Most of his time on the field took place with the special teams, including one kick return for 26 yards.
The all-time great gymnast and the former Texan celebrated their one-year anniversary earlier this week.
As of right now, Owens is an NFL free agent.
