Monday proved to be a tough day throughout the NFL as teams worked to cut down their respective rosters to 53 players. Even the Pittsburgh Steelers had a few tough decisions to make.
According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the Steelers released veteran long snapper Kameron Canaday on Monday. Canaday had been in Pittsburgh for the last four years.
“Cut-down day affects specialists too: The #Steelers are parting ways with long snapper Kameron Canaday, source said,” Rapoport reported via Twitter.
Canaday began his professional career with the Atlanta Falcons back in 2016. He signed with the Steelers a year later and spent a total of four years with the organization. The veteran long snapper is now on the market with the 2021 season fast approaching.

It’s shaping up to be a very interesting season in Pittsburgh. The Steelers’ success will ultimately depend on the play of veteran quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.
Big Ben worked hard during the offseason to cut down his weight. The new and improved quarterback was on full display a couple weeks ago during the Steelers-Lions preseason game when Roethlisberger threw for 137 yards and two touchdowns in limited play. Yes, it was just the preseason, but it was good to see the veteran playing well.
If Big Ben continues his strong play into the regular season, it could be a special year in Pittsburgh. If not, Steelers fans will be anxiously awaiting an era beyond Roethlisberger.
