Steph Curry Sends Message To Lionel Messi After New Deal

Steph Curry is one of the most iconic No. 30s in sporting history — and on Tuesday, the superstar basketball player welcomed another athlete to that list.

Earlier today, all-time great soccer legend Lionel Messi was introduced for the first time in his new Paris Saint-Germaine uniform.

The number on his back? No. 30.

Accompanied by photos of Curry holding a custom No. 30 PSG kit and Messi holding his signed Warriors jersey, the two-time league MVP took to Twitter with a message for his new No. 30 brother.

“Messi has some good taste I see,” the two-time league MVP wrote. “Good luck at PSG my guy.”

For more than a decade, the No. 10 has become synonymous with the Messi name. But, the legendary soccer talent has some history with the No. 30 as well.

When making his debut as a 16-year-old for Barcelona in 2003, Messi wore No. 30. As he developed into a more consistent performer for his longtime club, he later transitioned over to No. 19. The LaLiga superstar finally claimed his No. 10 jersey in 2008 after his former teammate Ronaldinho left the club in 2008.

Usually reserved for the team’s top playmaker, the No. 10 carries a lot of weight in the soccer world. Brazilian superstar Neymar, who currently holds the No. 10 kit for PSG, offered to give up the coveted number to his former Barcelona teammate — but Messi declined.

Instead he will join Curry, Nolan Ryan, Ken Griffey Jr. and other iconic No. 30s.
