An estimated 101.1 million viewers watched Sunday’s Super Bowl between the Los Angeles Rams and Cincinnati Bengals. Which is up quite a bit from last year’s number of 92 million, the lowest since 2006.
On Tuesday, The Athletic’s Bill Shea broke down the Super Bowl’s ratings by city. And the No. 1 spot on the list shouldn’t be much of a surprise.
Per Shea, Cincinnati led the way among local market ratings with a 46.1/84 rating. The highest among any city in the country, as Cincy’s been waiting since the late 80’s to see their team in the NFL’s biggest game.

Looking at the ratings, there’s a huge midwest lean. Detroit, Pittsburgh, Columbus, Kansas City, Milwaukee and Cleveland make up the bulk of the list. Followed by Boston, Philadelphia and Jacksonville.
Notably, the host city of Los Angeles was not in the top 10.
All in all, Super Bowl LVI was a success. The game went down to the wire, and there were very few penalties or injuries to speak of. Outside of Odell Beckham Jr.’s knee and a couple questionable calls (or non-calls).
