After leading the Jacksonville Jaguars in receiving yards last year, Pro Bowl wideout D.J. Chark is expected to be an important player for Urban Meyer in his first year with the team.
But Chark may be forced to start the season off slow after his latest injury. Speaking to the media this weekend, Meyer said that Chark has undergone surgery to repair a hairline fracture of his finger.
Fortunately, it doesn’t appear that the recovery time will be that long. Meyer expressed confidence that Chark will be good to go in time for Week 1 against their AFC South rivals, the Houston Texans.
This isn’t the first time Chark has been battling injuries though. He missed three games last season due to injuries, but still managed to lead the team in receiving yards.
Urban Meyer has tasked Chark with playing like the big receiver he is. To that end, he’s focused on adding muscle this offseason as he prepares to enter the year as a starter.

D.J. Chark was a second round pick out of LSU in the 2018 NFL Draft. He contributed only a little as a rookie before having a breakout year in 2019.
Chark had 73 receptions for 1,009 yards and eight touchdowns as an NFL sophomore. He made his first Pro Bowl that year for his efforts.
2021 could be a challenging year for the Jaguars as they start the season with rookies at head coach and quarterback. So the sooner they have all of their veterans healthy, the easier it’ll be to get through those growing pains.
How big of an impact will D.J. Chark have on the Jaguars’ season this year?
