There are a lot of ways to assess how a young quarterback is progressing in the National Football League.
For Urban Meyer, though, it mostly comes down to one thing: wins and losses.
The Jaguars head coach revealed that he will be keeping things pretty simple for first-year quarterback Trevor Lawrence.
“What makes Tom Brady the greatest quarterback of all time is he find ways to win,” Meyer said after practice earlier this week. “Whether he’s a Buccaneer or with the New England Patriots, he finds a way to win. I’ve had quarterbacks like that — they win.
“I don’t know if we’re going to tell in a year. He throws a nice ball, that makes him one of about 60 to 70 quarterbacks. Does he win games?”

Lawrence is expected to start right away in Jacksonville, though the Jaguars have yet to fully commit to a plan at quarterback.
The Jaguars are scheduled to open the season on Sunday, Sept. 12 against the Houston Texans.
