Albert Pujols and Cody Bellinger both homered to lead the Dodgers to an 8-2 victory over the Angels on Sunday. But neither Pujols nor Bellinger made the play of the day.
Unofficial player of the game belongs to the Dodgers ball girl who tackled a fan running on the field. Stadium security were unable to catch the fan until the ball girl stepped in with a picture-perfect tackle. The wild fan flipped into the stands off the right field foul line.

An already-great day for Dodgers fans got even better when the ball girl showed off her courage and tackling acumen in right field. She received a raucous applause from the crowd at Dodger Stadium. As soon as the fan reached foul territory by the first base line, the ball girl stepped in like a seasoned middle linebacker. She grabbed the fan by the legs, forcing the fan to tumble over the wall.
Dodgers starter Walker Buehler (12-2) delivered six sharp innings, giving up just one run while striking out eight. Buehler allowed four hits and four walks on the day.
Pujols’ home run was his 14th of the season and his third ever as a pinch hitter. The future Hall of Famer came in for Justin Turner, who left in the second inning with a groin injury. Pujols is up to 676 career homers. After the game, he addressed going yard versus his former team.
“It’s not the first home run I’ve hit against the Angels,” Pujols said. “To me, I’m just glad to be able to contribute to the ballclub and help win the series. I didn’t put too much thought into it. It can be looked at a different way since it’s a former team, but I don’t look at it like that.”
The Dodgers improved to 67-45 with the win over the Angels on Sunday.
