The Washington Football Team signed cornerback William Jackson III in the offseason to serve as the team’s new No. 1 cornerback.
Well, for anyone who has watched Washington through six weeks of the 2021 NFL season, you know things haven’t worked out with Jackson thus far. The high-priced free-agent addition has struggled each week.
Now, it looks like Jackson could miss his first game for Washington in Week 7 against the Green Bay Packers.
On Saturday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reported that Washington “doesn’t sound optimistic” about Jackson’s status, despite the cornerback making the trip to Green Bay.
WFT CB William Jackson, who is listed as questionable for Sunday due to a knee injury, is considered a pre-game decision, though the team doesn’t sound optimistic that he will be able to play vs. the Packers, per source.

Jackson was limited on Wednesday and Thursday before he missed practice on Friday and was listed as questionable for the game.
Now, before you celebrate, consider Washington is already down two cornerbacks from its opening 53-man roster. Torry McTyer was lost for the season in Week 4, and Darryl Roberts was placed on injured reserve after Week 5.
Washington elevated Danny Johnson from the practice squad and signed Corn Elder off Carolina’s practice squad.
Kendall Fuller and Benjamin St-Juste will start for Washington, and safety Bobby McCain can play some corner, too.
It will be interesting to see if Washington uses special-teams ace Troy Apke in the game at cornerback.
