What a horrible final week of 2021 for the Washington Football Team.
Team President Jason Wright’s unprofessional and classless tweet, was surpassed only by his deflecting personal responsibility from himself to his paying customers telling them to “chill” and grow in understanding.
Here is to hoping that coach Ron Rivera’s culture change begins to affect owner Dan Snyder and Wright as well as we ring in the new year.
The next night, while getting embarrassed and frustrated on the field, losing 56-14 to Dallas, we, unfortunately, observed Daron Payne poking Jonathan Allen, who then responded by punching Payne.
After the game Allen did not make excuses, stating he was taking full responsibility for his actions. Payne downplayed the incident as brothers fighting in the heat of battle. Perhaps this was an isolated incident?
Unfortunately, Payne’s father chose to fight fire with fire on social media, seeking to not only bring public sentiment to his son but also pointing the finger at Allen. So much for it being merely an isolated incident and simply moving forward…
More Covid restrictions for WFT players occurred as 2021 was winding down. Sam Cosmi, Tress Way and Kyle Shurmur were added to the list Thursday.
Tress Way missing Sunday’s game against the Eagles will be the first time Way has not punted in a Washington game since 2013, joining Washington in 2014.
Ereck Flowers and Antonio Gibson then were placed on the Covid list Friday. Nothing should surprise us anymore when it comes to bad news for the Washington Football Team and the Covid list in 2021.
Speaking of the virus, did you catch offensive tackle Cornelius Lucas’ comment? He said he feels he may have already experienced the virus three times!
Curtis Samuel continues to be a limited participant in practice due to his hamstring injury. Ok, what a disappointing 2021season for Curtis Samuel. We can only hope 2022 will find Samuel in the lineup and producing.
Early in this final week of 2021, Rivera suggested we would see Kyle Allen playing this week. But over the course of the week, that message has slowly been evaporating as Rivera and Scott Turner both took the opportunity to later remind us Taylor Heinicke is the starter.
2022 will bring us a new quarterback being brought to the WFT either through the draft, free agency, or a trade. There should be no doubt for all of us, this is a significant need.
Can they figure out how to get the ball more often to Terry McLaurin? Glad to hear Scott Turner this week addressing the issue and even taking some responsibility in the matter.
2021 brought us more instances of Dan Snyder making excuses and Jason Wright now joining him. Remember Wright had even tried to say the reason the organization did not inform fans of the Sean Taylor day sooner, was because he did not think it would mean so much to the fans? What?
Perhaps those two need to listen and learn from Rivera, Turner, and Jonathan Allen taking personal responsibility for their actions.
Wouldn’t that be a great way for the Washington Football Team to bring in 2022?
