It was not a good day for the Washington Football Team on Sunday. Washington entered the game in desperate need of a win before kicking off a series of difficult games against the Kansas City Chiefs and Green Bay Packers the next two weeks.
Things appeared to get off to a good start for Washington as linebacker Cole Holcomb picked off a Jameis Winston pass on the Saints’ first possession. Unfortunately, Washington couldn’t put the ball into the end zone and had to settle for three points.
Winston would make Washington pay for another critical coverage breakdown as he found Deonte Harris for a 72-yard touchdown to give the Saints a 7-3 lead.
Despite the defensive mistake, the game remained tight until the first half’s final play when Winston hit Marquez Callaway in the end zone on a Hail Mary pass to end the half. It was the worst defensive effort on a Hail Mary in NFL history.
It was a demoralizing finish for Washington.
Now, we grade each positional unit for Washington in the Week 5 loss to the Saints.
