Wednesday roster moves
Washington made several moves today as they continue to deal with injuries, and tweak their roster. Darryl Roberts was dealing with a quad injury that he suffered on Sunday vs the New Orleans Saints. He has been placed on injured reserve, and will be replaced by Corn Elder who was signed from the Carolina Panthers practice squad.
Roberts was a free agency signing this year who has been a depth/special teams guy all season, and hasn’t recorded a significant stat. Elder was a 5th round pick by Ron Rivera and the Panthers in 2017. This was his third stint with Carolina, and he’s also spent time on the Giants and Lions practice squads.
Washington also released kicker Chris Blewitt from the practice squad, ending the chances for an endless amount of bad jokes if he was actually needed to kick in a game. He was replaced by S Cole Luke who was with the team last year. Another safety returned to practice today. Rookie Darrick Forrest has been on injured reserve(hamstring), but seems ready to make his debut on the field. The Team now has a 21-day window to evaluate him, and either put him on the 53-man roster, or shut him down for the season.
