While the Washington Football Team was hard at work on Monday trying to trim their roster down to 53 players ahead of Tuesday’s deadline, safety Landon Collins was out in the community.
The seventh-year safety surprised a D.C. youth football team called the Woodbridge Warriors with a $150 shopping spree at a Dick’s Sporting Goods in Washington, D.C.

“Being around these kids to give them a smile on their face and to put something on their shoulders that they can use on and off the football field is amazing,” Collins said, per Matt Pusatory of WUSA Channel 9 in Washington, D.C.
Each team member received a $150 Dick’s gift card to use on anything they wanted. Collins served as their personal shopping consultant.
One youngster described what it meant to have Collins show up.
“It just feels great for him to come down here and spend his time with us, just so we can have a surprise and get us ready,” the young player said.
Collins is entering his third season with Washington in 2021. He suffered an Achilles injury last October in which he rehabbed in just seven months. He was one of the more talked about players in Washington’s training camp all summer and looked faster than he has in years.
Collins is looking better than ever on the field, but his work off the field is most impressive.
