Wisconsin has disciplined a pair of freshman running backs leading up to its season opener, with one of those players being dismissed from the program.
This afternoon, Badgers head coach Paul Chryst announced that first-year back Loyal Crawford has been booted from the team, while classmate and fellow running back Antwan Roberts is suspended.
Both players were three-star prospects in this year’s recruiting class, and both enrolled in Madison in July.

The program did not specify what caused these punishments, but a tweet from Crawford replying to Wisconsin beat writer Evan Flood is certain to raise eyebrows. In it, Crawford seems to be accusing Roberts of attacking him.
“I was treated so unfairly in all of this. I want everyone to know that,” Crawford wrote. “They didn’t even want to hear my side. He literally broke into my dorm room and tried to jump me while I was sitting on the couch with my back turned to him he started it all.”

According to Madison.com, neither player is facing any criminal charges, per court documents.
