The Captain is in the building!
Today is the 4th day of Commanders training camp. In the pre-practice press conference, Dan Quinn announced that veteran wide receiver Terry McLaurin has reported to training camp despite not yet agreeing to terms on an extension with the Commanders front office. Quinn said that GM Adam Peters would continue to work towards an agreement on an extension with McLaurin, who is under contract through the end of the ‘25 season.
Quinn also said that McLaurin would open camp on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list due to Terry’s ankle. On PUP, McLaurin is prohibited under the CBA from participating in team on-field activities but he is allowed to participate in meetings and do individual rehabilitation.
Terry’s arrival required a corresponding roster move. The Commanders announced the release of UDFA DB Fentrell Cypress who was signed after this year’s draft.

Quinn had no details on the severity of Terry’s ankle injury, though his tone was relaxed when discussing it. In answer to a direct question, DQ confirmed that Terry had been experiencing some issues with the ankle at the end of the ‘24 season, indicating that it may have lingered a bit over the past several months.
As a holdout from training camp, Terry McLaurin was being fined $50,000 per day, which is mandatory under the CBA and cannot be rescinded by the Commanders. That ends with him reporting to camp. While on the PUP list, McLaurin will count towards the offseason roster limit.
Quinn, of course, said that he’s “pumped” that Terry has reported, describing him as “an awesome competitor” and adding that he’d been able to spend time with McLaurin on Saturday.
