Player Overview

Coming through South Florida high schools like St. Thomas Aquinas and Deerfield Beach, Xavier Restrepo was a three-star prospect who committed to the local University of Miami. Restrepo broke out in his 2023 season where he totaled over 1,000 receiving yards. Xavier followed it up with a better performance in 2024, notching career highs in receiving yards and touchdowns. He led the ACC in receiving yards and touchdowns this past season and earned conference and All-American honors.

Xavier Restrepo can best be described as a technician or a smooth operator. What Xavier lacks in size and explosive traits, he makes up for in refined skills. He is a reliable safety valve receiver and can provide occasional big plays. Given the lack of explosive traits or desirable size, his ceiling is limited. It shouldn’t dissuade teams that are looking for an immediate starter at the slot. Xavier is projected to be an early Day 3 pick. His ceiling is a projected starting slot receiver who works best in a West Coast offense.

The Washington Commanders held a private workout with WR Xavier Restrepo earlier this week, a league source confirmed.

A dynamic wideout, Restrepo produced 69 receptions for 1,127 yards + 11 TDs (16.3 YPC) this past season.https://t.co/XeG0vZUUz0

Metrics

Xavier Restrepo is a WR prospect in the 2025 draft class. He scored a 3.89 #RAS out of a possible 10.00. This ranked 2231 out of 3647 WR from 1987 to 2025.

Official 40 is very bad still, but strong agilities help a ton to project him.https://t.co/ezTtIEqUD6 pic.twitter.com/Uk9v2YA1H9

Strengths

  • Fluid route runner, doesn’t lose speed, and is able to get separation.
  • Willing blocker for runs and screens.
  • Very reliable hands. Only 4.3% drop rate.
  • Great awareness of where to get open and find the soft spots in coverage.
  • Good toughness to handle catching in the middle of the field.

Weaknesses

  • Lacks explosive traits like deep speed and acceleration.
  • Primarily seen as a slot receiver only.
  • Short arms lead to a small catch radius.
  • Not much YAC creativity.

How Will He Fit On The Team

Washington needs talent, but the team also needs immediate contributors. The wide receiver room looks crowded but most, if not all, of the receivers are only signed for this season. Terry McLaurin is the obvious go-to WR of the offense, but then it comes down to who will be the reliable secondary option. Just as Zach Ertz was the safety valve for Jayden, so can Xavier Restrepo be from the slot. Restrepo may not be a game breaking player but he is a reliable receiver as Cam Ward can attest. Restrepo’s combination of IQ, route running, and experience will be an asset to help the passing offense stay on schedule and move down the field.
