Positional Leaders
Goalkeepers
There was a tie for the goalkeeping lead this week on 13 points, as Joe Willis (NSH, $8.2) kept a clean sheet and added the rare goalkeeper assist, and Nick Marsman (MIA, $5.8) kept a clean sheet and saved a penalty. Bobby Shuttleworth (CHI, $6.6) rounded out the top three with a clean sheet against the lowly Red Bulls and 9 points. For DCU, Jon Kempin ($4.7) scored 5 points.
Defenders
Julian Araujo’s (LAG, $8.4) two assists and 12 points was good enough to lead the defenders, just ahead of Daniel Lovitz (NSH, $7.8), who came in with an assist, a clean sheet, and 11 points. Orlando’s Ruan ($5.9) topped things off with a clean sheet and 10 points. The D.C. defense featured Antonio Alfaro ($5.1) with 5 points, followed by both Andy Najar ($8.2) and Steven Birnbaum ($4.0) with 2 points, and both Frederic Brillant ($6.7) and Joseph Mora ($4.0) with 1 point.
Midfielders
Maxi Moralez (NY, $9.5) tallied two assists on the way to 14 points, leading the midfielders. Behind him was the pair of Djordje Mihailovic (CHI, $10.1) and Ethan Finlay (MIN, $5.1), each of whom scored 11 points on the strength of two assists. United’s midfield was led by Russell Canouse ($5.4) with 6 points, then Felipe Martins ($4.0) with 5, the pair of Julian Gressel ($9.7) and Junior Moreno ($6.7) with 4 points, Kevin Paredes ($5.1) with 3, Edison Flores ($6.5) with 2, and Drew Skundrich ($4.3) with 1.
Forwards
A pair of FC Dallas forwards led the pack this round, as Jesus Ferreira ($8.7) led all scorers with 18 points on two goals, and Ricardo Pepi ($6.7) scored 17 points on two goals and an assist. Sebastian Driussi (ATX, $9.0) rounded out the top three with 14 points on two assists. DCU’s scoring forwards were Yordy Reyna ($6.0) with 10 points, Ola Kamara ($9.8) with 7, and Ramon Abila ($4.8) with 6.
Looking Ahead
Chicago, Minnesota, the Galaxy, D.C., Atlanta, the Red Bulls, Toronto, Montreal, Austin, Seattle, and Vancouver are all on bye this week, and everyone else plays once. Take a look at JT Marcinkowski (SJ, $7.6) in goal vs. Colorado, and Antonio Carlos (ORL, $8.6) in defense vs. Columbus. I can’t believe I’m suggesting a Cincinnati midfielder, but if ever there was a time for Luciano Acosta ($9.4) to go off, it’s vs. Miami. At forward, I like Felipe Mora (POR, $8.9) @ Houston.
