Everyone’s talking about Andy

Good morning! Yesterday was a mercifully slow news day, which feels strange and confusing after the barrage of D.C. United, Washington Spirit, Loudoun United, USWNT, and USMNT games that happened over the last month or so. Did you know there’s an outside? It’s weird.

So let’s get it going with good news:

Andy Najar scored a goal, and if you score a goal your chances of making Team of the Week tend to be very high. But also, it’s great to see him getting recognized, because he’s been outstanding all year.

Our thoughts on United’s win on Sunday night involve Najar, along with Ola Kamara, a tactical breakdown from Hernán Losada, and some thoughts on Joseph Mora as well.

Matt Doyle’s segment on United focused on how DCU is one of the only high-press teams that still have gas in the tank (brief aside, it’s because Losada has frequently mixed in a mid-block to save the team’s legs, and lately United has been effective playing both ways) and the rarified air Kamara is in right now in terms of scoring.

Staying with a top flight club is good, but is a team looking at a likely relegation struggle all year the right place for a smaller forward like Sargent? We’ll see.

That’s about it. Like I said, we got a brief slowdown in terms of the news cycle yesterday, and I’m in need of breakfast, so it’s time to wrap this one up. Enjoy your Tuesday!
